Interview: Haris Duljević, captain of FK Sarajevo

It is difficult to pick the happiest moment, because every match, victory and goal is very important and stirs emotions. Winning the title is a great motivation for even greater goals, said the midfielder of the current champion of BiH, Haris Duljević, during the interview for the daily newspaper “OSLOBOĐENJE”.

Behind this 22-year-old midfielder of Sarajevo is a successful previous year during which he won the first trophy in his playing career, i.e. the title of the champion of BiH. At the very end of the last season, he was injured during a match with Zrinjski which ended with a 1:0 result in favour of Sarajevo, but in the autumn part of this season as the captain, he became one of the best players of the team from Koševo.

With his incredible moves, including the one against Travnik (4:0) on the home field on Matchday 17, when he managed to score a goal from an almost impossible situation and received ovations of the supporters of the maroon colour, showing that in the continuation of the season he will be one of the pillars of the Chief of Coaching Staff, Miodrag Ješić.

Unforgettable happiness

What did winning the championship title of BiH with the Maroon team in the last season mean to you?

It is certainly one of the happiest moments in my life and in my football career. Winning the championship title of BiH with the Maroon lads is something unforgettable, primarily because we showed that we are the best in the country in the sports segment and that we deserve the first place. I am very happy because I am a part of the Maroon story and because I signed the contract with Sarajevo at the right time, said Duljević.

Was that the happiest moment in your playing career or would you pick something else?

It is difficult to pick the happiest moment because every match, victory and goal is very important and stirs emotions. Winning the title is a great motivation for even greater goals.

What do you think about the fifth place of Sarajevo after the autumn part of the championship?

Many factors had an influence on the current position. We are not satisfied and want to improve in the spring part of the championship.

Do you expect a better performance of the team in the spring part which will feature the fight for trophies in two local competitions?

Of course. First of all, we want to do our winter preparations as good as possible, and we are focused on them. I believe that the results in the spring part will be better if we do our preparations well. Our intentions and philosophy are clear. We want to make our supporters happy by playing good.

Who are the mains candidates for taking the first place in the BH Telecom Premier League?

The first part of the season showed us the candidates for the top positions. Those are the teams taking the upper part of the league table. It will be uncertain and I don’t want to pick out any specific team.

How do you see your position as the captain of the current champion of our country?

Being the captain of Sarajevo is one the best presents I could receive. I am thankful to the Club and the Coaching Staff for the trust they put in me. I am trying my best to justify the trust of all those who decided I should wear the captain armband, and I hope that I will not disappoint them.

Focus on preparations

Are you staying at Koševo, because your good games towards the end of the autumn part draw attention of the teams from abroad?

I don’t want to comment on any speculations concerning transfers. I am so happy in Sarajevo and focused only on the upcoming preparations, said Duljević.
