Match preview: FK Sarajevo - FK Sloboda

On Tuesday, 15 March 2016, FK Sarajevo will play against Sloboda from Tuzla in the rematch of the 1/4 finals of the Cup of BiH. Our players will play against Sloboda for the second time in this round of the biggest football competition in our country after they were defeated in the first match at Tušanj stadium with the result 2:1. As a reminder, Ševko Okić scored the goal for Sarajevo.

Duels of Sarajevo and Sloboda have a long tradition. These two clubs played 93 matches in total, Sarajevo won in 40 matches, there were 25 draws and the team from Tuzla won in 28 of them. One of the first wins in the history of Sarajevo was against Sloboda. In the season 1946/47, the Maroon Club defeated the team from Tuzla with the result 5:0, and the goals for this greatest win of Sarajevo were scored by Švraka, Radoš and Novaković (3).

Sloboda from Tuzla played at Koševo 47 times in total and they left the biggest stadium in B&H 31 times as a defeated team. At our stadium, 13 matches against the red and black finished without the winner while Sloboda achieved three wins, the last one was in the season 1981/82. Sarajevo traditionally plays well against Sloboda at home, which is proved by the statistics of their duels and the last four matches at Koševo stadium ended with wins of the Maroon Club. In the last match, played in the autumn season 2015/16, Sarajevo celebrated a minimum win with the goal of Amer Bekić and in the previous season within the Matchday 30, Sarajevo won the title of the champion of B&H by winning against Sloboda with the result 3:1.

Today’s match, the 94th duel of Sarajevo and Sloboda, is the most interesting match of the ¼ finals of the Cup of BiH. Our first team players really need to win in order to reach the ½ finals of the Cup and the clean bill of health certainly adds confidence to the Coaching Staff that qualifying for the next round is certainly possible. All FK Sarajevo players will compete for the match line-up and each of them are eager to hear the referee’s whistle to run out in front of our fans and try to qualify for the ½ finals with great fight and efforts within these 90 minutes at the Koševo stadium field.

Haris Mehmedagić, a defender of the guest team led by the former coach and player of FK Sarajevo, Husref Musemić, will miss the match at Koševo due to injury.

Let’s also mention that the main referee of the match will be Ognjen Valjić from Banja Luka, and his assistants Senad Ibrišimbegović, Elvis Prošić, Asmir Budimlić, Dragan Petrović and Husein Terzić. The match delegate is Haris Idrizović and the match observer Muhamed Osmić.

WEATHER: According to weather forecasts, the participants of today's match will be welcomed by a cloudy weather with sunny intervals, with a maximum air temperature of 90 C.

EXPECTATIONS: Edin Rustemović, first team player of the Maroon Club stated prior to the match that he expects good and ardent match of our players and that he hopes to qualify to the next round of the Cup of BiH.

“It is true that we do not have an active result from Tuzla where we were defeated by Sloboda. However, that match is only the first half of the two matches and the decision will be made on our stadium. I am sure that all players, including myself, will give their best to get through to the ½ finals. We are all convinced that we will qualify to the ½ finals. We are not nervous, all the players are confident that we can reach the goal. We're a good team, I am sure that we will give our maximum and start the match in the best way" said Rustemović.

TICKETS: Tickets are on sale in both Bordo Fan Shops (38/b Maršala Tita Street, Bezistan), and in sales points in front of the City Market and at the KSC Skenderija plateau. It is worth mentioning that tickets can also be purchased at the “Asim Ferhatović-Hase” Olympic Stadium starting from 03:00 p.m. The prices are: North Vedran Puljić" - 3 KM, East- 5 KM, West-7 KM, West Gallery – 20KM.
