Match Preview: HŠK Zrinjski – FK Sarajevo

Within the 1/16 finals of the Cup of Bosnia and Herzegovina, FK Sarajevo will be guest of Zrinjski from Mostar on 23 September 2015. Our footballers will have a demanding task in order to qualify to the next round of the completion because Zrinjski is the current championship leader and in the current competition course they conceded only two goals which makes them the team with the best defense. However, the Maroon Club has a good chance to qualify to the next round because our team has the best offense with 16 scored goals. Leon Benko, striker of Sarajevo, is the best scorer in the league with six scored goals.

The clash of the best defense and offense is for sure the most interesting match of the most famous competition in BiH and former matches between Zrinjski and Sarajevo are proof of that. Uncertainty, quality, aggressive play and good moves characterize duels between Sarajevo and Zrinjski. In the current course of championship, the club from Mostar defeated Sarajevo at Koševo within the Matchday 4 celebrating with a result 1:0. However, Sarajevo traditionally plays well in Mostar and in the last four matches the Maroon club is undefeated. To be more exact, an away victory against Zrinjski in a fantastic match in which Sarajevo defeated the club from Mostar with a result 3:1, put the Maroon Club on the road to winning the Cup in the season 2013/14.

In the mutual duels played so far, Sarajevo has been guest of Zrinjski 19 times of which we won two times, played 10 draw matches and suffered 7 defeats. The most number of appearances against the club from Mostar has our former goalkeeper Muhamed Alaim who played 20 times against Zrinjski. We also need to mention that the main referee of the match is Elvis Mujić and his assistants are Dalibor Drašković, Senad Ibrišimbegović, Dario Primorac i Goran Paradžik and Zoran Soknić.

Expectations: At a press conference held before the match, temporary Chief of the Coaching Staff of FK Sarajevo, Almir Hurtić, stated that he expects a match with a lot of tactical decisions.

FK Sarajevo is back on the winning streak with two consecutive victories and a goal difference 5:0 in our favour. This is very important. On Wednesday we are anticipating a match with the team which has the best defense but we have the best offense. We are expecting a tough and hard match with a lot of tactical decisions and moves. We are prepared, we want to win, but we will have to see if we will succeed,” stated Hurtić.

Weather: According to the weather forecast, we are expecting warm and sunny weather with the maximum air temperature of 29oC.
