With the win in the last Matchday, the younger U-17 team of FK Sarajevo Academy finalized the group phase of the “Tournament of Friendship” which is taking place in the B&H city of Bijeljina. The players selected by Dženan Uščuplić managed to qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament, with two wins and one draw in the first phase. In the extremely strong competition, our boys showed a very good game and deservedly passed into the next round as the first-ranked team of the group “B”, followed by Partizan from Belgrade.
The first match of the group phase brought the duel against the Croatian Osijek, which was finished with division of points, 1:1, and Dervišagić scored the only goal for Sarajevo. Within the second round in a very good match, the younger cadets of our Academy defeated Partizan from Belgrade with goals scored by Salčin and Dervišagić for a 2:0 result, and they also defeated the team of Vardar from Macedonia with goals scored by Imamović and Dervišagić today, in the last match of the group phase.
In this way, our team managed to qualify for the semi-finals of this prestigious tournament and as the only club B&H which has remained in the competition, will try to reach the finals; the success of our team becomes even more significant considering the fact that the team of the coach Uščuplić is composed of several younger players, born in 2001, although the players born one year earlier (in 2000) have the right to participate.
Congratulations to our boys and their Coaching Staff for the good results, and we wish them the best of luck in the semi-final match where they will most probably play against their peers from Rijeka from Croatia. The semi-final matches are scheduled for Saturday, 28 May of this year at 12:15 and 15:15 hrs.
